Martin SPD-16TR (1996)

Dreadnought, Limited Edition. Made in 1996. Only 425 were made for US sale.

Nut: 1 11/16" Scale: 25.4". All solid woods. Spruce top, straight grained rosewood back and sides. The rosewood is quite beautiful, although the photos of the back and sides have reflections of the building wall behind the camera. Rosewood fingerboard and bridge, one piece Mahogany low oval neck. Hybrid scalloped top braces. Modified snowflake style 45 fingerboard inlays. Snowflake inlays in bridge. Style 45 back center strip. Gold Gotoh machines. Aging toner on top. Body is all gloss finish. Satin finish neck. Black molded Martin case with black lining.

The current model which is most similar to this Limited Edition is D-16R. It lacks many of the features of this Limited Edition: Only dots in the fingerboard, no inlays in the bridge, no aging toner on the top, no multiple rings around the rosette, chrome, not gold machines and the neck is “select hardwood”, not one piece mahogany. The D-16R has a list price of $2399. The price for this Limited Edition is only $1,595.
