Tacoma has had a problem with the finish lifting, particularly along the edges of the sides and the headstock. The photos show where the finish lifting has occurred on this guitar. This is purely cosmetic; it does not affect the sound or integrity of the guitar. It is my understanding this is caused by incompatibility between the sealer and finish materials.

In the past, when Tacoma guitars developed this problem I sent them back and Tacoma refinished them under warranty. However, it took at least a couple of months. I have already sold a Tacoma guitar with the finish problem. At my suggestion the purchaser sent it to Tacoma and it was refinished under warranty. However, he told me it took nearly four months. It is my belief that repair of the finish will be covered under the warranty. I have decided I’d rather not wait for this guitar to be refinished and leave that up to the purchaser.

Tacoma does not currently make a guitar of this caliber- all solid woods. Also, the current models all have that elongated tear drop shaped sound hole rather than the normal centered round sound hole.

This guitar is very responsive and full sounding. It is a great value in a US made new guitar.
